Malta Visitor/Tourist Visa

Malta, one of the world’s smallest and most densely inhabited nations, is full of enigmatic and stunning architecture, making it the ideal holiday destination and a place to explore at leisure.

Malta has it all, from the MTV music festival in Valletta to climbing and abseiling in Gozo. The Mediterranean island, which is little in size but big in personality, provides hip cafes, hopping nightclubs, thrilling excursions, and spectacular archaeological discoveries, year-round.

More than 300 days of sunshine per year and crystal-clear waters draw most visitors, making it one of the top locations in the Mediterranean for diving and snorkelling. In fact, the water is some of the cleanest in the area. But Malta’s unique 7,000-year history is what gives the island its singular charm. More historical sites are located on this tiny island than in any other nation. In addition to prehistoric temples, Roman catacombs, and mediaeval communities, visitors can tour some of the oldest stone buildings in the world in this area.

VALID FOR 26 COUNTRIES

Unless otherwise specified on the visa sticker, a Schengen Visa (issued by a consulate or embassy of a Schengen State) is valid for travel to all 26 Schengen Member States, including Malta, a European Union member state. Therefore, you do not require a second visa to visit or remain in Malta’s European area. However, you must have supporting documentation for your grounds for staying and your means of subsistence. Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland are the nations that make up the Schengen Area.

DURATION OF STAY

The Schengen Visa is a temporary visa that is attached to your passport as a sticker. A “short stay” is defined as a stay of 90 days within a 180-day period. This means that in any 180-day period, the overall length of stay may not exceed 90 days. On the visa sticker, under “Duration of visit,” is the precise duration of your Schengen visa’s validity. You are only permitted one entry into the Schengen region with a single-entry visa. This is denoted by the number “1” under the title “Number of entries” on the visa sticker. A two-entry or multiple-entry visa permits two or more entries while the Schengen Visa is in effect. This is noted by the letters “02” or “MULT” under the title “Number of entries” on the visa sticker.
